My self interview is about 18 minutes long. I said some interesting things to myself and I think it is probably worth keeping for at least a short time to listen to again. In fact, comparing it with my classmate interview tomorrow might be interesting. I started using the "Events" "Meanings" format to analyze some of my interview, but I kept seeing the intersection of a couple of different academic activities that were going on - my graduate seminar project that involved learning and using NVivo software and a paper for an independent study that was intended to examine use of NVivo and/or use of Photovoice. In the process of reading for the paper, I started to question a lot of what I was doing in the NVivo project. At any rate, instead of the list of items, I created the relational image above with a simple program called "Mind Node." This is a pretty basic diagram because I have never gone much beyond that in using the program - I bought it because I wanted to show the relationships among content areas in a survey class I was teaching and I have not used it much beyond that. However, as I reflected on my frustration, I kept coming back to the things I read that really were helpful. Of course, as I say on my recording, I continue to experience some frustration because I have discovered some terrific resources - many of which are low or no cost - and, while people seem to appreciate it when I point these out, I keep wondering why others in my cohort rarely seem to find new things to show me!
